2003 Specialized Stumpjumper Disc

I think I may be buying this bike very very soon. I took a look at one in my store and basically, I can get a very good deal on it. Its got XTR/LX components and Deore Hydraulics on it. Has any actually ridden this bike or any of the non FSR stumpjumpers. Does it have a good ride to it. For a nonracer, how do the Deore Hydraulics run. Basically I can get this bike for C$1700. Should I go for it.

$1700 is a pretty bad price for the FSR disc. Assuming its all stock parts. It normally comes with XT on the back, LX everything else, and you mentioned XTR. I just bought a FSR Comp for $1500. I was actually looking at the disc too, but I don't want to replace the fork on the bike I buy, so I went for the Comp instead. I try to stay away from Manitou forks.

As for the disc performance, everyone I've asked who has used them is very pleased with them. The only warnings I would give you are these: they take a while to break in, so don't judge them by the initial performance, and don't get them if loud things annoy you. They're noisy as I'll get out when they get wet.

ahh that C$ must mean canadian? that makes sense then

Couldn't figure out why you were thinking of paying more than retail for it lol

That is a pretty good deal. Like I said, the only thing I would be careful of is the fork

Like I said, this isn't the FSR model and this has a Fox Fork on it. I can't stand Manitou either.
