Should I Buy _ Cannondale F5 *urgent*

hi, i'm wondering if i should buy the 2007 cannondale f5 in matte black.
i'm starting up in mountain biking, i've done a little in the past, but nothing too serious, i'm looking to upgrade some of the parts on this bike. but the bike is BRAND NEW, the guy won it in a contest, and has the tags and warranty still o nit.

i can get it for 450. it goes for around 600.
i need an ANSWER URGENTLY cuz he needs an answeer tomorrow.

simply reply YES or NO and why. or if u have any other questions.

heres a link for the info. remember matte black, so it looks pretty sexy. plus i believe it comes with rockshox dart 3, not 2. but gotta confirm that.

So demanding.

Personally, I enjoy Pert plus; the combined shampoo and conditioner makes life easier.

You can get a 20% discount from a LBS. A quick google search shows the F5 lists for about $575. At a 20% discount it's about $465. Your buddy is only giving you $15 off but he isn't giving you the extra stuff you can get from a LBS such as:
- tubes
- tire levers
- bottle cage
- water bottle
- free adjustments for a year
- 20% off of other stuff such as a helmet, pump, etc.

Offer him $400 otherwise find a local LBS .

Also, do you know if the bike fits you?

I use pert plus too, but I have to use head & shoulders for the dandruff in my eyebrows. It's the darndest thing...

Find a local bike shop that sells the same Cannondale model and ask them for their best price. You can expect about 20% off of the list price. Make sure you do your research and know what the MSRP is for the model you're interested in.

I have a LBS that will give 20% to our club members during the time they place their orders. There's another thread floating around here about someone who was offered a similar deal at his LBS.

Put it this way, if I am a LBS buyer and I can increase my order by a handful of bikes with a guaranteed sale attached to them I'd be willing to give the discount because I've locked in the sale early enough. The benefits are:
- more revenue
- possibly moving up into a higher discount bracket with bike vendor
- cash deposit in hand months before having to pay for the bike and turning it over to the customer

I agree that if we are talking current inventory the chances are lower but if we have two cases of LBS offering that deal, does it hurt for him to try?

no. cannondales are so 1997.

I just dont think LBS would give 20% off 2007
maybe 10% or something, but 20% is kinda too high

At 10% then the OP's deal isn't too bad especially if the LBS would charge taxes and his buddy wouldn't.
