Bike Insanity

Im in a dilema right now. I have a big decision that I dont want to regret.

On one side I have Kleins 2003 big hit comp. And on the other side I have a 2001 big hit comp that a local guy is selling.

The thing with Kleins bike is that its only been used for one winter which is a huge plus. The bad thing about Kleins bike is I couldnt actually ride, see or feel it before buying it.

The thing with the 2001 bike is that it has a 2001 shiver on the front. Im still contemplating whether I will need that much fork or not.....If I did go with that bike I would be the third owner....which I am kind of sketchy about. But on the plus side, I can actually see and feel the bike before I buy it.

Do you guys think it would be wise to get a 2 yeart old bike that has been owned twice. I asked the guy who was selling it how much he has ridden it and he told me he had used it for about 5 months now and had never gone over 7 feet. Im worried that a 2 year old bike will eventually have its time and break.....The only other thing wrong with the bike is there are some scratches on the frame due to UPS's mishandling of the bike during shipping.

Im going insane and I need a bike soon because im tired of thinking about it. What do you guys suggest I do?

Ride the one you can, and if you like it, buy Klein's

Get Kleins and upgrade it later...the shiver is a great fork but it doesn't make sense to buy a 3 year old bike for that reason.

Ditto, a 3 year old that's been hucked off of 7 footers is something I'd stay away from! Regardless of fork or components! I'd stick with Klein's and upgrade as you see fit!

could you get a shop to check it out? I don't know if anyone does that sort of thing but it may make a difference getting the opinion of an impartial third person who can actually examine the bike.

900 cdn or 900 american...sweet looking frame...3 years old worries me though...thats a long time for a bighit bike especially being advertised on pinkbike that is notorious for yourng abusive riders.

900 american. He said the biggest drop he took was around 7 feet to tranny. He also said that he had only used the bike for 5 months and he he told me theres not much freeriding on the island he lives on..... So Im taking it the that bike hasnt been overly abused from him. The owner he bought it from, however, I cant comment on.

I dunno what the hell to do. Kleins bike tempts me but hes still not sure if he wants to sell it since he got a new jr t.

then get what you can...The fork is worth enough to make the used bike an investment chance so even if it doesn't work you can get back some of your money...I just don't like buying used especailly when it has been through two owners and you don't know how the first guy rode...
