Hi, I have to make a choice for my new bike. It's either a 2001 Klein Adept for $1300 or the 2003 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp for $1450. I'm not sure which one to get, can you help me?

Easy answer: Try em both! I can't think of a bike shop that won't let you ride around outside on them. You'll likely find yourself partial to one of them after having been on both.

Well, I cant try to ride them, because one bike shop is like 5 mins away, but the other that has the klein is 45 mins each way if i am lucky traffic wise. So, I cannot Try the Adept. I think I will be happy with the stumpy though. More posts would be nice. Thanks for the time.

I prefer specialized over klein. In either case I haven't ridden THOSE bikes but I still prefer specialized.

Klein's are lighter, but more fragile. If weight is a major concern, definately make to 45 trip to test ride it. If durability and performance are your credo, go with the Specialized. The benchmark for suspension design with the Horst 4-bar linkage!

Personally, I agree with the stumpy sentiment. I love my FSR Comp and wouldn't trade it for the world. Well, maybe the world, I'm open to offers. But I also know a lot of people who swear by their Kleins, and I'm in no position to tell them they're wrong

I was at one point looking at the 01 adepts and later on bought an '02 Stumpy FSR. The componentry on the Klein is a lot older than you'll be getting on an '03 and the trickle down technology will make a differance. The SX-R is a light with good dampening, but doesnt really compare to the Float RL at all(i have a float RL) and a lot of the parts on the klein aren't name brand, compared to the specialized which has more name brand parts and like i said the trickle down technology too

Go with the FSR all the way!
