place looks like a blast. nice jumps.

Nice! I love the location, so ghetto. And that little vert wall looks like at lot of fun.

Also having those rocks around is a big +! Do you use them as filler in your jumps?

Edit: And I notice that some one painted over the graffiti under the bridge, are you concerned about that?

the site's also right in the middle of a woods, so lots of logs to salvage. (no, we don't chop down living trees)

Just curious.. did you get permision to build those in whatever city your in?

nope, but if you look at the pillars as time progresses, the town has been down to clean up graffiti. they know that we're there, but haven't done anything.

actually come to think of it, i don't think it's the town's land, as it's under the 407 ETR, which is owned by a private consortium... but either way, they know, but likely don't care because we aren't structurally damaging anything... but i like to think that they're riders too ;)

Whether it's private property or city owned land, there is always someone you need to ask.

Careful, bums like to live under those overpasses.. maybe you can get some pics of them hitting the jumps though..

good weather protection? or is that actually bad because you end up with too dry of land?

it's good weather protection, because if we need wet land, we can just go right at the edge of the grass line. it's perfect.

I thought about that too. I think the place looks great though, and that seems like you would have some nice rain cover too.

pete, the cloth underneath is still there. we have only removed the rocks.

oh, you can't see it good in the pictures, but beyond the last set of posts is actually a creek... we're gonna build a rivergap :D

i see your point, but there isn't any water passing through where the structure is anyways, so the point is relatively moot. the only possibility of it eroding all away is if we ride it too much... in that case, we can easily rebuild it. underneath the layers of dirt is actually concrete slabs, so there's not too much concern there.

Do you think it was free to have that erosion control put there? Whoever paid for that overpass is going to care regardless of whether it matters. Don't forget about wind erosion.

I don't think a reasonable person could say that what those boys are doing presents a threat to the stability / safety of the bridge, which most certainly gets inspected on a regular basis. If the inspector deems the damage to be a problem, then revmonkey and friends can expect to have their jumps plowed. If not, well, the spot looks like it has lots of unrealized potential. That's the nature of unsanctioned trail building - your hard work is always and ultimately subject to the whims of someone who doesn't "get it," whether it be ignorant riders, bureaucrats, or otherwise.

As a taxpayer, I am not concerned in the least that an infinitesimal amount of my money might have to be sacrificed to replace riprap if it meant that some kids could ride their bikes under a bridge when it rains.
