How can I tell frame size of my bike?

I have a Trek 3900 that I want to sell and people are asking me what the frame size is.

How can I tell, I've measured from middle of pedal stem to top of frame, which is 22" including the inch or so that sticks out the top. But this is not accurate, apparenetly Trek never made 3900 in 22.

Does it say on the frame anywhere so I can be exact?

pedal stem?---> you mean the crank?
usually you measure from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the top tube. or sometimes to the top of the seat tube, Im not sure if there is really a standard for measuring one way or the other....

in lehmans terms, measure it from the crank to the bottom of the seat post.
