    Mongoose Exile

I have seen loads of Mongoose Exiles for sale cheaply on the internet but I've read a few reviews and people seem to think they fall apart and aren't that good. I also can't seem to find anything about these bikes on the Mongoose website, which is strange unless they are nothing to do with mongoose?

Are they actually useless and are they sold off the internet?
    Help!!

There are Mongooses and there are Mongooses. As when the brand was owned by Brunswick Sports (the pool table and bowling ball people) and now by Pacific Cycles (the huge Taiwanese conglomerate that also owns the Schwinn and GT brands), there are many Mongoose-badged bikes that are not true Mongoose bikes. They are cheapies that Pacific has cranked out of its OEM factory in Taiwan and slapped the badge on to go to discount outlets to capitalize on the name-recognition. If it's not a model on the Mongoose web site, it is one of those 'second tier' products.

    this thing?!

the least I'd spend on a full suspension bike would the $865 they want for this Dakar
less than that, you would be FAR WISER to purchase a hardtail for (rule of thumb) under a $1000

The Exiles are junk and sold in "big box" stores and the internet.

The ONLY good things about them are they get you riding for very little cash.

That and they keep repair shops busy!

As a former mechanic, I can't tell you how many of these bikes I've thrown in a dumpster because the cost to fix them was more than the customer paid for them new.

    Everything about them is substandard.
