This one, or that one?

I am ganna get some new pedals for Christmas. But I dont know which ones. I have SPD PD-M520. I dont like them because it seems hard to clip-in in a hurry with the 2 sides. I always get my cleat snaged on the side or somthing.

So I am looking at these
Eggbeater

Candy

Smarty

I will race with them, so there will be mudd, water, and all that stuf. Will these cure my slow cliping-in problem and stay clean better?

Thanks, Its always appreciated.

I have Eggbeaters and Candys. I prefer the Eggbeaters.

I love my eggbeaters. I have actually considered marrying them but my wife wouldn't let me move to Utah. I have three sets of eggbeaters and one set of candy's. The candy's are in a box somewhere because I didn't like them. They completely defeated the purpose of the four sided entry that makes the eggbeaters so great.

On a side note, how do you like your saddle?

I was thinking the candy and smarty was a waste of a four sided entry. They are cheaper though.

From what I remember, the Smarty cannot be easily rebuilt if at all. It really is more of a commuter type pedal. The Candy has the little platform, which should help out if you ever go out in shoes without cleats but it is NOT a platform pedal for any more than riding down to the corner store.

As for price, I know the Smarty is much cheaper but I'm surprised you said the Candy is cheaper than the Eggbeaters. Make sure you're comparing the same model types (e.g. Candy C vs. Eggbeaters C; Candy SL vs. Eggbeaters SL).

Keep looking. There is a chromoly version of the eggbeaters that costs less than the candy.
