Juicy Seven Knob

I just recieved a front Juicy Seven. It's been used but it's on a fresh bleed and fresh pads. Before I mounted the brakes the red knob (pad contact width) worked fine but after I mounted it, it seems excrutiatingly hard to turn towards the "out" direction. There is way too much space in between the pads right now and I gotta squeeze all the way down. Any help on how to reduce the pad width space? Thanks!

if there is too much space between the pads, then turn the knob to the "in" direction
