Drivetrain suggestions

I just found this site while searching the internet and thought maybe I could ask a couple of questions. I am selling my truck and buying a bike as my means of trasportation and I have chosen to put one together instead of buying straight from the factory. The frame that I chose is the Giant Trance 1. Any suggestions on shifters, derailleurs, and cranksets would be great. This is the beginning of a project for me so any other component suggestions are welcome, however right now I am just researching the drivetrain

I'm having good luck with my Sram X7 setup so far.. to be specific, Sram X7 trigger shifters and derraileur, PC-970 cassette and chain, FSA V-drive extreme cranks, Shimano Acera front derraileur.

I have a Shimano LX 'train, with the exception of Sram attack shifters. Works great

I would go and test ride a few different bikes to see what works for you and what doesn't. You might like SRAM stuff, or perhaps Shimano is more up your alley. Then you can determine your parts pick by looking at your budget. Also, don't skimp out on your shifters. They can make a huge difference to the quality of your shifting. You can cheap out a bit on handlebars, seatposts, pedals, etc., but remember that you get exactly what you pay for...
