i guess i thought it was kind of a good idea but probably misled myself with the idea that bigger will be better. however, even kevin at Transition told me a year ago that other fork manufacturers would be making 1.5" forks. it doesn't appear that materialized.

the ISCG-05 standard reminded of the website and then i was surprised to see it gone.

in other news, not that any of you are Soma fans, but i just noticed that Soma started making some lugged frames. they are obviously budget lugged, but still looked cool. maybe they will make a lugged mtb frame:

Umm, actually it has. (taken off that is, albeait slowly) Manitou still does, and Rock Shox makes a couple 160mm and 180mm fork that come in 1.5" and 1-1/8"..... and more frame companies are starting to use the 1.5" standard on some frames as well. I've heard/read a few rumors that Marzocchi will be doing so as well, even after they originally said no to the idea.

I'd say it's anything but dead, and neither of my bikes are 1.5". No vested interest in it.

It taken off more than is has slowed down I think. Quite a few manufacturers are starting to make bikes w/ 1.5" headtubes. For instance, the 07 Nomads come w/ a 1.5 headtube, and that's an "all mountain" bike.

It will keep taking off I'm sure.

I think, more than anything, what you are experiencing is the demise of a tempoarary URL to introduce the standard. Doesn't mean the standard has died; nobody wanted to pay for the domain name anymore.

I'm glad for the standard even though I run dual crown forks with 1 1/8" still. More is better in this case.

new santa cruz's like Bullit are coming 1.5...of course c-dale and IH and a lot of others have 1.5 tubes...i'm trying to get a frame with one...

i think it's a great idea that is definitely where the DH/FR industry is going, stronger headtube with beefier bearings that will be even more durable

even specialized has bit the bullit and put 1.5's on the demo 7's.

I see the VPfree has gone to a 1.5 head tube this year.

Reducing headsets that add yet more useless spacers to the assembly have never been so popular.
