nashbar's RST Omega T6 fork

""
$149.95 > $99.95

I'm thinking about getting one ... but yall are probably much more knowledgeable than I. Opinions?
Anybody got a review? Is this a decent fork? I checked mtbr but they didn't even have a listing for it, and I want actual feedback......

1) that has a 1in steerer.... meaning if your bike has an unthreaded headset it will most likely NOT WORK!!! what bike are you planning on putting it on (model/year)

2) you get what you pay for... your gonna get all that thing is worth on your first few rides.... it locks up, rusts, and despite their advertisements DO NOT adjust...

If you have a 1in head tube and want to go from rigid to susp. Id say go for it....FEW companies make a 1in fork... so this fork is appealing to those with 1in head tubes....

You are a few weks late buddy... I just sold my Marzocchi MX PRO ETA for 100 clams..... try ridemonkey.com classifieds... there are daily deals there....

PS my girl had a fork similar to that.... it is really inconsistent... some days it was nice and squish.. others it was really stuff and uncomfortable...

If you're converting a rigid fork, 1" head bike to suspension, you might want to consider the Suntour R-3000 sold by nycbikes.com It's NOT a great fork, but it's a heckuvalot cheaper than $100 (about $35 with shipping) and it's similiar to the RST.
If your bike has a 1 1/8 head, unthreaded steerer, you would be much better off looking on ebay for a recent OEM unit removed from a one year old bike for an upgrade. As an example, Rockshox Judy's are selling for well under $100.

The Omega T6 is a very base fork. There is no rebound dampening, so it is just legs with a spring. Grease lubrication inside (no oil). It is a combination coil/elastomer fork, meaning that in cold weather the plastic elastomers may stiffen up.

There are many, many better options out there. In whatever you look for, make sure that it has even the most rudimentary damping system in it.

if your on a budget, and need a 1 1/8th fork, look at the rockshox dart 3, its a good base fork.

sadly RST's are mostly budget OEM forks, and i would never reccomend them to anyone thinking of getting a new fork.

There are a few RSTs that may surprise you (sadly that Omega is not among them). The Aerosa line is one. My Aerosa HT is light, coil-sprung, decent rebound damping and a lockout. It's now been superceded by the Megaan series, I believe.

Though simple in design, their DH/FR forks stand up quite well too.

You've owned/ridden/even seen how many upper-tier RST forks to know that?

the inside is basically a long pencil eraser with a click pen spring on top and a little axle grease to keep it moving. the best way to limit padal bob is to open it up ad wipe out the grease. you lose 99% of the suspension but it doesnt bob anymore. think Xmart Next brand bike suspension. they do make better forks but that isnt one of them and its been on "sale" for that price for a couple of years now
