A lesson in trusting your tires
As some of you may remember, my frame has been having troubles. It's pretty much a lost cause without replacing the seatstays, and unless I can find somewhere where that costs less than $160+S&H, that's not going to happen.
I've got some new things on order that will get me back on the trail, but this past weekend I wanted to ride, so I took my roommate's old trek out. The thing shifts like a dream - I should know, I set it up for him.
I got it out to the trail, and then remembered why we still had it up on the stand. Those brakes were just for morale. I don't think I've ever gone that fast around corners. Only one crash, too. Fell off a tiny bridge.
Just thought I'd share my tips for becoming a more fearless rider.

Still kicking.
However I do like being able to stop in case of an emergency or when inner judgment tells you that you need to slow down for the sharp turn, or at the end of a run.
While yes, you do have to trust your tires, but you have to have faith with your brakes when you need them.
