Shouldn't these bikes with active suspension blow away regular bikes?
 

The bikes with inertia vale suspsnsions...shouldent they in theory blow away a regular bike with normal suspsnsion....or is it just that...theory

Like the Talas X...is it that great but not used to often b\c of its $800 price tag?

it's overkill for most riding. For XC racing it is a nice feature.

I can't see the point in a 5+'' travel fork with it though. to me it is overkill. To some, maybe not

i am unfamiliar with what a "suspsnsion" is.

dude, it ain't that great. it's just valving and it's still suspension. it is not going to blow others away.

i wouldn't leave my purchase choice hanging on one fork using inertia sensitive valving versus one that doesn't. besides, any of them that have a valve shim stack and piston are using inertia valving to a degree with flexing shim stacks. things i would look at for purchase:
air, coil, weight, material, leg diameters, 20mm axel, Q/R, color, comp/reb adjustibility, etc etc

actually, i pretty much would not look at valving...to a degree. depends on application. if there are not high speeds and longer travel involved, it becomes less significant in my opinion.

let me try to illustrate example so i don't get attacked by any specific group of riders:

two relatively equal in ability/fitness xc racers. one with a HT with forks from 10 yrs ago vs. one with modern fox forks...i would guess they would still be relatively equal out riding.

two relatively equal in ability/fitness DH racers. one on bike of 10 yrs ago vs. one with a modern bike. i would think the person with the modern set-up would have a greater advantage than what might be realized by the xc racer over the xc racer on older equipment.

why? mainly high speed, long travel.
