Specialized Hemisphere Armadillo Tires

I am looking at buying a pair of these "flak jacket" tires for my MTB - which I generally use more for street riding. I am also attracted by the red bead which compliments my black bike. Questions: Does anyone have any experience with these tires? 2) Is anyone aware of a similar hybrid tire for mountain bikes that has a red bead?

I used the regular version of the hemisphere tires for approxmiately 800 miles without a single flat. Good solid tire, but the pair I had wore out much faster than I would have liked.

The specialized is probably the only one that fits the bill with a red bead. They're the closest thing to a flat proof commuter tire that you'll get. I highly reccomend them.
Schwalbe makes a really flat resistant tire, but the sidewalls are black.

I ran the Hemispheres for around 3000+ miles with no flats. I am running the Armadillo Nimbus now
and have had 3 flats in 2500 miles, no complaints. They are a little smaller, much lighter, and notably faster.

I'm lurking around trying to learn more about mountain biking, before I get my first mountain bike.

There is a long thread and debate about Stans and some Stans alternative right now.

I have a commuter and a road bike with armadillo tires. They almost never flat. I probably get a flat for every 1000-2000 miles

Why do mountain bikers seem to prefer Stans and other technologies over advanced Kevlar tires like the Armaillos? Does the armadillo tire not work as well on mountain bikes? I haven't seen many bikes with this type of tough-tire technology available stock. Even Specialized bikes dont come with armadillos installed

What other bulletproof tires are out there for mountain bikes, if Armadillos aren't your thing?
