SPRING BRAKE!!! wait a minute...

I'm going to Moab for spring break and I inted to ride my bicycle for many many miles on the oh so sweet slickrock. What kind of tires would you guys suggest? I've never riden there before and figured switching my tires would be a wise choice. Anything advice or suggestions or fun stories you want to share? go for it. Happy trails!

Give slickrock one day, after that get off of it. Slickrock trail is the most boring trail in Moab. The best tires for that trail are worn out tires.

There is a lot of great riding in Moab, slickrock just isn't what I consider to be part of it.

I think he ways referring to the slickrock that comprises many of the trail surfaces around Moab rather than Slickrock trail itself.

As far as tires are concerned, I've used everything from semi-slicks to DH tires. I would just ride whatever you currently have. Tires with large side knobs can squirm on side hill/off-camber slickrock...

Well i have a few fairly worn pairs of tires that now resemble semi-slicks. i may trim the edges a bit, but will probably just ride there. What are some trails i should look into riding? What are some of your favorits Lowcel? I am more into the endurance/scenic aspect of riding moreso than burly drops and big gnar gnar stuff. I am considering renting a dualy for a day though. It could be fun...

From what I've heard, you will wear out your tires on the slick-rock. I suspect that fairly worn tires will not last that long. A few of my friends went about a year ago and each went through a brand new set. They did do a fair amount of riding but I suspect you will as well.

I recall going up to the mountains-- La Sals I think they were called. I think I have a picture somewhere that shows us at 10,000ft.
I also remember loving Porcupine Ridge. I think that trail cost me a rear rim.
Ahhh... to be young, single, and kidless-- those were the days.
