More new parts!

Well, I finally hit my goal. I wanted a bike that's coil sprung, tough enough to handle my riding, 5" of travel, and around 32lbs.

I got some Hope Pro II hubs laced to DT EX5.1d rims with DT Comp spokes and brass nipples and Salsa Flip-off skewers.

FSA Orbit Z internal cup type headset.

Kenda Nevegal 2.35" DTC tires.

SRAM PG 990 11-34 cassette:

Well, the rear shock is amazing compared to the Fox Float that was on it.

The wheels are much more laterally rigid/stiff than my XT Rhyno Lite's. They're noticeably faster due to the 1lb10oz difference. I will know more after I have ridden it more than just one day.

I plan to do a Float R / Van R shootout as well as a XT Rhyno / Hope Pro II EX5.1d shootout.

Wipe your face...

Jamis Dakar XLT with Fox Van R rear shock 5" travel
FSR Orbit Z internal cup-type headset
Fox Vanilla R 130 fork
Easton EA 50 stem
Easton EA 70 HiRise bars
Thomson Elite Layback post
WTB Rocket V Team Ti saddle
Lizard Skins Logo Lock On grips
Avid Juicy 5 brakes
LX shifters
XT front derailleur
XT rear derailleur
SRAM PG 990 cassette
SRAM PC 971 chain
Shimano Hone crankset
Hope Pro II hubs
DT EX 5.1d rims
DT Competition spokes brass nips
Salsa Flip-off skewers
Kenda Nevegal 2.35" DTC tires
Shimano m505 SPD pedals

I have spent quite a bit of time putting it together/riding...blah blah. I'm probably still not done yet. I'm perusing the carbon bar idea, and have always wanted a Thomson stem. I may try to get some XTR or 959 pedals for my birthday or something. I'd still love to have an XTR rear derailleur. I tried SRAM and though it's a good product...I still prefer Shimano.

All in all, I've spent about $1575. Got a killer deal on the frame and fork. Got some other parts given to me for Christmas and Birthdays. For what it is, I don't have much in it.

I thought I'd clarify that the 1 lb 10 oz difference includes tires and tubes. I supposedly saved 130g in tires though I don't quite believe it b/c my old Stick-E Nevegals are worn down so far they may even be lighter than the DTC's I got. My tubes are standard 2.2's instead of 2.3-3.0's, so there's a little rotating weight savings there too.

I need to take the old tires off and weigh them to verify.

(I really don't care all that much...I know it feels faster)
