Old Norco Pinnacle?

So I just picked up this frame off of CL for super cheap. I normally ride road and some of my friends have convinced me to try the whole dirt thing. Is this a decent frame to build up? The components are Shimano Exage 400 LX(the derailers are off to be cleaned in the pic). The only things I would need to build it up are wheels and shifters. The dropout spacing looks to be 130.

Yeah its a Nishiki Alien--Nishiki/Norco had some deal going on in the 80's/90's... one of my Nishiki's has a sticker saying "designed by Norco". Those are really wild bikes to ride, very fast handling and I would think a great singlespeed/rigid beater bike. I wouldn't put a suspension fork on it, as I recall that really screws with the handling of those bikes since the geometry is so tight. It wouldn't be my first choice for a primary mountainbike because of the 'old school' racing geometry, but its well made and fairly unique.

Reminds me of the Yeti Ultimate - - diggin' the wild color scheme.

I picked up a couple of other frames in the deal that don't have nearly as steep geometry(a couple of hardrocks and a focus) so I could just swap stuff between frames. I had never heard of Norco before, as I mostly ride road, and just wanted to be sure that I hadn't just picked up the Canadian equivalent of a Next.

The color scheme and the chainstays are what really caught my eye. The paint is really growing on me, maybe I should paint one of my beaters yellow and pink...

It looks to be in great shape for a 17 year old bike. The 400LX components were only offered for two years - 1990 and 1991.

It looks like it was based off the models under the Alien, like the Ariel and Cascade-- the Alien was made of Tange Prestige and never used wishbone seat stays or U-brakes.
