adapting a 20mm axle

Can you take a wheel with a 20mm axle and adapt it to use a regular quick release style drop out?

well i believe the hub has to be pre-designed for the conversion. there are many out there. i am not aware of a universal conversion...but i could be wrong.

The usual spacing on a 20mm thru axle front hub is 110mm. The usual spacing of a QR front hub is 100mm. So unless the hub was designed for the interchangeability or you have some custom fork/fork drop out I'd say you can't adapt it.

I use Hope hubs and to change from 20mm to QR is just a change of a section that runs between the bearings. Never knew about the difference of width on the Different forks but my 20mm axles and QR axles fit in my wheel true tool without respacing the arms.

Part to change on Hope hubs is part no.4 as in the link

I have 20mm T.A. bolt-on style - it is not adaptable on my Ellsworth Dare. Front Risse uses 20mm thru axel too. Or do you mean QR20 style?

That looks like it would work for sure! It won't for me because both my frame and fork is dependant on bolts to secure the thru-axel. I believe it depends on application.
