light singlespeed wheelset

Anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight singlespeed wheel set? Should I lace my own, or is there a good pre-made set out on the market?

I've got a Juan Solo, and I'm starting to count grams. Something I thought I'd never do, but I got a great deal on the bike and I figured why not lighten it up and take it racing?

Stans olympic or 355 rims (run tubeless of course) laced to Hubs of your choice. There are many out there that will fit the bill depending on how uber light you want to go or how durable you want them

American Classic, Paul, Chris King, White Industries, DT Swiss, etc..

or you could just go with the American Classic 350 wheetset...

or , everyone together now, you can call mike garcia and chat him up about it

I'm sort of looking at these:

https://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...ed+Wheels.aspx

https://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/SSWH/WE2667

Are either of those worth my time? I think the Salsa wheel would be lighter. If my calculations are correct, they're nearly 800 grams (pushing 2lbs). Is that heavy? I've never considered wheel weight before.

I'm a little lazy, but I suppose if I have to break down and build my own wheels, I could do that. I just lack a couple of tools right now.

neither of those wheels is 'light'.

the second one is lighter.

The salsa rim is fairly light but surly hub, while sturdy and strong, is far from light.

They would make fine wheels though.

How much money are you willing to throw at the problem?
