Why is the mountain biking category so general?

Downhill is to XC like road biking is to touring.

The first response to almost any question is "What type of riding do you do?"

I think Mountain biking should have sub-forums for the different types, what do y'all think?

Simple, I think this is the 80th time I have explained it...mr smashy sneakily whistling dixie...this site is for all biking. There isn't a contingent and nor will there ever be of dh, fr, dj, xc race or xc riders to justify splitting.Road cycling got subdivided a bit because its a very busy forum.

Also in reality, the people that post here a lot, ride everything (or a lot of everything). While I agree, it might have a place, the visitation and posting level doesn't justify it.

It still might be nice, but I think it would splinter a generally fun group of riders.

Oh my god! Someone isn't catering to your specific need???? How dare they? Yeah, I'd go online to whinge about it, too.

Sometimes life just sucks that way, doesn't it?

Exactly. It's not as if this is the only bike forum out there.

no one to speak of on this forum really cares, or is capable of riding "British Columbia" style.

so like Down hill and Free ride are a non-issue. that leaves what? all-mountain and cross country? no sense in breaking it up for those.

I personally have enjoyed the variety. There are plenty of niche subforums on RideMonkey and MTBR; but I still prefer the diversity and level of intelligence found here.

Not true. I know of a few on this forum that are scary good riders. They are more than capable of rideg"B.C." style.I think that quite a few of us on here care about FR and DH as well as other types. The diversity of the riders on this forum is what makes it interesting.............(Wheelhot).

That would be cool. There should be Dirt Jumping / Park, XC, Downhill, and maybe trails.

I'm all for splitting the Mountain Bike forum if a Jamba Juice category also gets created.
