Last time I ride w/o spares

Yesterday was my last day at my old job and I had planned to go out and have a great time before my vacation to Colorado tomorrow. I went riding on a trail that I found early in the week and explored it for awhile.

I decided to head back right before my front tire goes down. I start pushing it home when the rear tire goes flat! It took me 2 hours to walk the 10 miles home! So I'm placing an order on performance for spare tires, wedge pack, and a frame mount pump. It turns out I didn't get a puncture, the seal around the tubes just gave out. I guess they put the cheapest tubes they can find on new bikes.

A great day turned into crap, but I have learned my lesson.

Please elaborate. Schrader or Presta valve stems? If Schrader, did the valve stem have a cut? I'm having hard time figuring out what happened.

Hi Rocky Mountain-

There are techniques where you can fill a tire with grass and secure the tire to the rim with duct tape if you've used all your spare tubes earlier in the ride...although it appears here you started the ride with extras. Oops.

the seam that goes around the diameter of the tube. I'll post a pic later.

Yes, you should carry spare tubes with you. Thanks for the newsflash.

Whenever u get way out there, the more likely ur chances are of getting a flat. I had a tire go flat when I was way out in the bush about 20-30 km from home and it took me about 3 or 4 hours to walk to a friends house, that sucked out loud.
