I got a Diamondback Apex yesterday. I finally converted over to clipless, and it was worth it. So much easier and almost effortless to pedal. I did fall two times, but they were stupid and I know what I did wrong. But I got up laughing. Hubby was very proud that I did well my first ride with clipless pedals.
I like the new shock (Marzocchi EXR Comp w/100mm Travel), way better than my other one. I was able to go downhill MUCH faster and not shake my brains up. 3/4" riser bar definitely helped with comfort.
The Shimano mechanical disc brakes do seem a bit heavy. I have the lower end M475. The dealer said I can switch them out to Avid 5 veebrakes for no cost if I don't like the disc brakes by next week. I'm trying to find the weight of the M475s, but not alot of luck finding it online (I'm at work, and my manuals are at home, will look there later). Just want to see if switching out will make that big of a difference.
So a few changes here and there, and I will love this bike in no time. My old bike of 5 years was a 1998 Kaitai by Gary Fisher with a Indy shock.
Just thought I'd share my news.
