who wants to be my doctor?

A few weeks ago, I cased a landing, hard. On a new frame, didn't expect it to pop up quite so much on a jump and missed the landing by a few feet. Beat the crap out of my left shin, there's quite a noticable dent in it. I rode the rest of the way out, and I've been riding plenty since without issue, but any time I go running my whole leg below the injury goes numb.

Any guesses? Having self-diagnosed that it's not a break, I figure any doctor would just tell me to stay off it for a few weeks while it heals from whatever, so I haven't worried about it.

I had the same issue when I got in a car accident. The underdash area compressed from the frontal impact and hit my left leg/shin very hard. There was a noticable dent and it was pretty damn painful. The dent was noticable for some time, and if you pushed on it or hit it just right, it would send out spikes of pain/numbness. I was told it was a compressed/pinched nerve and not a HUGE deal. I'm not sure if your injury is similar, but if your whole leg goes numb below that you may have injured a major nerve plexus. I'd say get it checked out.

Get it checked out, due to the numbness you describe it might be a pinched nerve and that's not good at all.

See a doctor in person. No doctor *should* diagnose you over the internet, or without seeing you. That being said, asking for advice never hurts...unless it's wrong advice, and you follow it.

A few years ago when I trained in Muay Thai I knocked shins with another guy. We were both in a lot of pain after that, and there was also a noticeable dent in my shin. Eventually the entire area just kinda felt numb.

*knocks on shin*

The feelings back and there's no more dent. Ain't the human body a wonderful thing?
