Like to upgrade something :)???
Here is mine TRek 4300 (2006) Yellow
Deore front , XT rear , XT gear shifters Sram 830 cassette 8 speed (maby buy Shimano 8 speed XT cassette) Deore V-brake (maby change to XT V brake) Alivio Crankset(shimano bottom bracket) Avid Speed dial 7 brake levers Rock shox Pilot fork with lockout and air Is there anything i can upgrade (worth it) and would you do it ??? THXALOT |
the crankset and i would buy it off ebay

Nornally id say no, but since you've already poured a lot into the bike, i think the crankset should be next. Or possibly the frame. :)

ditch shimano and get sram components... thats what I did wif my 4300

Oh yeah! The new Hollowtech II technology is incredble, dude. LX Hollowtech II cranksets are so rigid and strong compared to the Alivio. It will reduce the annoying chain-rub to the front derailleur.
A nice set of lightweight wheels wouldbe good too. Would make the bike feel quicker. |
But the biggest diff would be buy better crankset ?

I was wondering the same thing. How does derailler rub get eliminated because of hollowtech II cranks? Just adjust the FD.

I'm 190 and when I used non integrated cranks, I could set the FrDer to where it wouldn't rub when you have the bike in a stand. When i actually stand up on the cranks and put some weight on them, it would rub on the OS. When I adj. the barrell adj. to compensate, then it would rub on the inside. With HTII's, I don't have that issue. Integrated BB's make for a more rigid crank that doesn't flext like my old ISIS and square taper cranksets. I'm sure the same would be with a very nice ISIS DH crankset that uses a heavy duty ISIS BB. Does that make more sense? I see your confusion about my statement. No i get it now. Only rubs when it flexes, stronger cranks dont flex, problem solved.
