Ok, here are some Mt Bike pics for ya as well..

I love photography, and although I dont carry my Canon 30D on my bike, I have a P&S I do, I realize they are so so pics, but we were still having a blast!

Galbraith Mt. in Bellingham Washington! These are just a small part of it.

Hope you enjoy

Love my bike! Ive only been riding this bike for a few weeks now, have not been on a bike in probably 4yrs. Last time out I crashed a couple times pretty good, but its still worth it,

Thanks!
John

Hey, nice shots. I just came home from a weekend with my son on Galby! Man, things are really looking good up there. Hit Evolution, Dan's, 911, etc. Think we caught Scorpion too but I get confused, there's so much up there. Also slogged through SST, which is a nice trail but not on my heavy pig of a bike. Scoped out the new semi-bootleg trail somewhere above The Sh** (?) It might be out of my league when it's done, though; gonna take some commitment and flow to hit it all right.

All in all, a GREAT mountain to be on. Wish I could come over more.

You want photography review or riding review? Both look great! A few nitpicks from a fellow photographer though, hope you don't mind:

First two are a bit flat, and slightly overexposed (see hotspot on shirt). Try bumping the contrast and color up a bit in PP. Also, I wouldn't have the log ride/rider centered in the frame, stick it over to one side (i'd pick right side due to the curve of the log ride). Good shots nonetheless.

The landscape is about 1/2 stop overexposed as well, sky is a bit too blown out, but color is better. Could still use some PP work to bump up the colors of the foreground. Not much you can do about the blown out sky now, just something to remember for the future Very nicely composed though.

Last shot, of the bike, is great. Colors are far far better than all the others, you have good blacks and its very sharp. Did you bump the colors at all in PP? There are some signs of compression as well, what do you use to compress for the internet?

This is what I mean for the first shot:

Thanks Dminor, Im always looking for someone to go with, preferably someone new, or with alot of patience and I walk alot of the way up, (getting better though)...

911 is my new favorite, loved it! Wish I could have talked my buddy to going up this past weekend, it was NICE!!

Ze, the pics were taking with a POS P&S, haha, no critique please, some day Ill take my big Canon up there, but glad I have not yet, as I tend to crash. I just wanted to show off our fun! The P&S cam fired off the flash alot, which didnt help either, plus my buddy isnt a photographer, and his first time running that camera as well. So it all added up to what you see.. Either way, I still have our fun on cam!

Yes, that last shot was at home with my 30D, you can clearly see the difference, I resize them down a ton, and reduce the qualitly for the internet on these types of pics, the ones of mine that go into magazines and websites for ads and what not, stay full rez and HUGE.

Cant wait to go again!

Thanks
John

I figured that was the issue There is a huge difference between the two cameras. Looks like some great riding. I'd love to see some of your other shots sometime, you should post some up.
Cheers

I'll have to PM you next time I'm coming over.

I was a walker/pusher this weekend too. Sat. all I had was big DH ring and bash guard so I was 80% walk to the towers. Sun & Mon wasn't so bad because I borrowed a 32 from my son. Sunday was crazy up on top - - snow-cover on the stunts on Evolution so I was being kinda a wuss.

Awesome D, please do, I am always looking for someone to go up there with, dont really want to go alone as I dont know the area that well yet, may have to spring for a map I guess... But just love going, thing I loved about 911 is you can get some speed, do some jumps, and have a blast!

Thanks
John

I'm completely dependent on my son's local knowledge; I get my mind so turned around up there. Hopefully they'll offer an online version of the map that's at the trailhead kiosks.

Brought some of that good Galby mud home to E. WA - - though I think some of it go washed off driving through a rain squall on the way home yesterday:

Now I gotta get it all prettied back up to go back in the shop for sale

Haha, yep! That looks about right, although when I was up there last week it was dry and perfect temp. I might be heading up there again tomorrow after work! Cant wait! The last ride we did was 8.3miles, other than a couple crashes, I was ready to go the next day!!!

How often do you make it this way?

Thanks
John

Oooo I hate that site. There's been a lot of talk on the PNW thread on RM about him - - putting everything behind membership/passwords.

This is another site:
https://www.ridegalbraith.com
. . . but their map is a little bit incomplete:
https://www.ridegalbraith.com/RideGalbraithMap.pdf

Trillium I think commissioned the aerial/map that's at the Galbraith Mtn. Rd. trailhead kiosk. Gonna have to ask my son to write it down. The mapping co. or the Trillium might have it available on their website for free.

Oh, I don't get that way way near often enough. Probably only have a couple times a year. Good weather hits and I'm off racing. I've gotta make the most of it this year though, because the boy's getting married in August - - might totally lose my best riding buddy for a while.

WHIMPs is doing a tremendous job up on Galbraith and the landowner is being pretty gracious about trailbuilding and the kiosks and such. It behooves everyone to respect the mountain and the people who've done the hard work.

Sorry if that offends anyone, I added to the dirty bike tracks that were already over it, Ill wipe it off next time Im up there.. At least I can say I didnt destroy it like someone else did...
