Is there a difference?

I really want to get this pedal:

It is an Odyssey SouthGate. My local shop is selling an aluminum-finished, bearing sealed version for only $30 instead of $50 everywhere else.

From what I understand, it is intended for bmx bikes. Does it matter if I put it on my mtb? Size is same, 9/16".

Not unless you encounter bike-snobs. If it fits you and your bike, put it on and ride.
