Umm.. numb butt and toes from riding..

Went on a 2+ hour ride this morning. Lots of long, steep uphills. I have a women's Specialized seat on my bike that I've had for 2 years now and has been quite comfortable so far. I noticed today my butt bone was starting to feel like I was pinching a nerve on my left buttocks. I haven't had this happen before, and I go on rides that long a few times a week. Then my toes (3rd and 4th) on my left foot were starting to go numb. They weren't hurting, just numb. It was starting to get really uncomfortable, so I would shift around in the seat.

I took a couple breaks, and it didn't really do much. My shoes weren't tight either. Maybe just too long in the saddle combined with a tough ride made this happen? I'm thinking of moving the cleat down a bit (towards my heal) to alleviate any excess pressure near the toes. Any ideas, or have you experienced this?

I haven't got clipless, but sometimes my big toe (left foot) becomes numb. I think this happens because on the down stroke my toes are lower than my heel. I alleviate the numbness by making sure my heel is lower than my toes for a few downstrokes. Works for me.

Good luck and happy riding, Portent

Numb toes are often caused by bad cleet placement on the shoes.

As for the seat, there are various women-specific seats out there. If you havn't looked into them already, you might try that.
