My new choice ride =)

Well to everyones relief here i just received my new bike.

Ok ok its not exactly a MTB, in fact its a road bike, but i couldnt resist the speed.

I really like it, and i thought id share the good news for all to see.

Its a Bianchi Gold Race 600, an AL frame with ChrMo fork, kinda weird for a road bike, but its a 27 speed, climbs like nothing ive ever ridden, light as id like, and looks damn sexy.

Bought it from my LBS, cost was very nice, i also ordered a helmet and shades from wiggle.co.uk and they arrived the next day. Very happy with the whole experience.
Heres a pic from a website as i have no digital camera (next on shopping list)

Hey what's wrong with those handlebars? they look bent? And did you cut off all the nobs on the tires? What about the fork, it doesn't look like it'd take a log hit to well....lol. Just messin around. Sweet ride! I hope to one day buy a road bike, but living in IL it's just to "death deffying" to go out on a bike on the roads around chicago and the suburbs....WAY to many SUV driving soccer moms around here. Well once a gain nice ride and don't forget about the mountain bike!

WOW, well you may remember my topic a week or so back, saying about the cycle i just had done, and how good it felt.

Well today i took my road bike out for its first real long run. I had a helmet this time, and some shades to keep the kamikaze flies outta my eyes. I set off, nearly toppling trying to get both feet into the clips. Once i had that all out of the way, i took a slow route to get me used to the controls, and my new gear. Pretty soon i had reached the hills i climbed before on my dualie.

I found it tough, but nowhere near as tough as on the 16speed i had borrowed previously. After lots of puffing and panting and pushing, i reached the top, all in all about 4 super short super steep climbs with twice that in longer, but still steep climbs. I was pretty soon at the very top, looking at the scenery.

I stopped for a drink (water ) and then turned the bike, clipped myself in, and set off down the hill at high speed, still using the highest handlebars, pedalling pretty fast. Once i had reached the steepest hill, i stuck it into top gear, and started to pedal like a madman. I seriously couldnt beleive how mad fast i was going, i currently have no speedometer, so i couldt tell, but i was going a HELL of a lot faster than both my MTB, and the road bike i borrowed before, i think i scared the crap out of a guy who was walking his dog (and the dog ), i was absolutely bombing it past him, and he stepped back and looked like a deer in the headlights, i had to avoid his dog, but they were a blur anyway . I was home in about a third of the time it took me to get out there.

What amazed me was how great an invention these clipped pedals are, i only realised how to use them on the journey home, one the up stroke i was putting in more power, felt good, like i was riding over the hills instead of up them. I am really glad i was persuaded to keep the pedals on by my LBS guy, and that didnt get an MTB, because now i have both .

Congrats Dazza! I'd say you did the right thing judging from your previous story. Just stay away from the 6' drops!

Thanks everyone, i really cant get over this, this is the best money ever spent.

Has anyone tried those shades with the amber tint lenses? I got a pair, and they are totally great, apart from protecting your eyes, they brighten everything up, and look wicked.

I was genuinely dissappointed to get off my bike at the end of my ride. Love at first ride

Dont laugh man!

I saw a set of carbon fibre forks on sale at my LBS, 100quid, looks damn nice, and would cut off a few grams, as the Stock forks are ChroMo. Of course that after i pick up a pair of bottle holders, a pump, spare tubes, tyre levers, multi tool, hydrapack, digital camera! Does the spending ever stop
