What size 29er??? Help!

I'm relatively new around here, and extremely new to the world of 29" single speed mtn bikes. That being said, I'm about to buy a Redline Flight Monocog 29er, and have had many different people tell me what size bike I should be on, from the Medium (17ish) to the XL (21ish). I'm about 6'1", and have a fairly average build, ride a 19" 26er, but I'd really like to know if there is any relation here. Since I have no dealer in Omaha, NE that stocks this bike, I decided to ride the Fisher Rig to compare sizes based on printed specs. Their 19 seemed right, but I could still ride the smaller bike with a reasonable amount of comfort. I'll be riding fairly flat single track, with no racing on this bike. The 19 would be what I thought would be the right fit, but I've got some telling me the 17while others the opposite with the 21. I feel like pulling the trigger on the 19, but keep resisting because it is really hard to buy a bike without riding it first. Could anyone offer an oppinion that would make me jump into this? I really appreciate your help in advance!!!

Regards,

Mark

You need to compare TT lengths, which is the most important dimension in starting to pick a stock frame size. Does not matter if the wheels are 29" or 26".

Most likely you would be on the 19" MC Flight and maybe the 17". I would not put you on a 21".

Thanks for your reply shiggy. I've ridden both the 17 and 19 in the Fisher Rig, which has a comparable top tube length, and felt crowded on the 17. I'd probably be ok on the 17 for playing around, but climbing and fast single track I think that the 19 will be better. I completely agree about the 21.
