hey all. ive decided after 4 or 5 years my kaitai needs some massive loving. this includes:

chain
back cassette
cables
bottom bracket
seat
brake pads
cleats
stem
riser bar

and other sruff as it comes along

ive already made some choices... (but still looking for other opinions)
stem - EA50 aluminum stem -or- Bon race atb - 82324
riser bar - EA70 moneky bars -or- crow bar race - Par no.65467

and the chain and cables im gonna use what my shop has.

but other then that im looking for some help on the rest. any help would be wonder ful.. and price really doesn't matter i saved up to buy a new bike and decided that my frame was still good so i have alot of money i can put in my bike.

somethings i forgot.. if some one knows where i can find a specs sheet it would be great. like the bottom bracket measurements, and the stem length. im just really looking for an over all spec sheet of the gary fisher Kaitai

As for cleats, you'll have to go with whatever your pedals are compatible with (SPD, Time, Speedplay, etc.). For brakepads, I'm currently running Shimano's that I'm not as happy with as Kool-stops in terms of stopping power. The Kool-stops had a habit of squealing on my bike, whereas the Shimanos do not. It could be the pad material or design. I know that the majority of people I know/meet up with run Kool-stops. I don't think you could go wrong with a SRAM cassette. Don't know if your bike is an MTB or a road, but I have always had great luck with my SRAM 7.0 cassette. It's supposed to be identical to the 9.0 except for weight. It's turned out to be real durable. I am running a PC-69 chain on my MTB. Saddles are a real personal thing. Something that works great for me might be the most uncomfortable piece of plastic and leather you've ever sat on. I run a Selle San Marco because the price was right and it has ended up suiting me fine. Finding the right saddle is going to be a trial and error process.

yeah its all mountain bike.. but i think im going to push it kinda into the trial bikes to. now that i know what its called im adapting my bike to suite me mountain/trial stuff.. yes i know that its not going to be the best trial, but for the purpose, and the money i have it will do. dont have enough money for 2 bikes, and hints on good trial stuff is greatly appreciated to. especially a giant front gear protector for getting over trees and stumps while riding. big enough for a 3 gear crank set, and maybe a matching set to go along with it

4 years to swap a chain I go through 4 or 5 chains a year.

HAHAHA yeah everyone at the shop gave me crap about it too. we used the chain tester to see how worn the links are, they were so worn the chain tester had room to move even when was on full failure

I love my Kool-Stops..No squealing at all, plus better stoppage. My Simano pads sucked majorly. They were in the lame-o big leagues.

okay well i guess its:

chain -- still dont know
back cassette 00s ram
cables - whatever my store has
bottom bracket - still dont know.. i need those darn measurements
seat -- a vented of some kind
brake pads - kool-stops.. or hydraulic pad
cleats - i think im going platform. i need to leanr how to really ride because i cheat with clipliss
stem - above
riser bar - above

sounds good so far. i cant wait until i get this **** on my bike.. massive biking then
