6 punctures, one bunny hop.

So, we were riding around town (city) and a friend was hopping on and off the side walks. I have been telling him he has been running low pressure (tires), well toady he didn't exactly clear the ledge and PSFFFFFF all the air is out. He gets of and walks to an area where we can repair the tube.

I was expecting snake bites, so i found a pair (2 slits) we patch them, he pumps and pumps, nothing. We find ONE more hole oh the inside of the tube, ok, 3 down, he pumps, nothing. He finds an other snake bite on the OTHER SIDE of the wheel! and an other single slit.

What i don't understand is how did he get 6 spaced out punctures from one horible impact?

ran out of patches (just enough!)

Perhaps the damage was cumulative, and just wasn't noticed until the final, worst, impact? I used to enjoy hopping curbs, parking lot blocks, etc.; but now I generally avoid it. The hassle and expense of replacing damaged rear wheels from the occasional "miss" outweighed the thrill of clearing the obstacles. I'm older and perhaps a bit slower now, but I save more money by rolling over anything harder than wood.
