Your knee placement is much more than important than handlebar adjustment. Lot's of online articles and everyone is more comfortable with slightly different setups... but, when feet are at 3 & 9 o'clock your knees should be above the crank and avoid excessive angle in knees when feet are at bottom of pedal cycle.

Go out and ride. But don't set out on a 25 mile ride on a poorly set up bike or you will hurt yourself...

True. I find that when my knees get below the cranks I'm getting cuts and bruises.

That was me yesterday morning when I endo'd and barely missed getting hit in the head by my bike. Almost broke off my brake lever
