Liquid in my Rock Shox?
i got the Rock Shox Dart 2 model front shocks last week and havent installed it yet as i am waiting on a new frame (some posters may recognize my name from previous questions...know that I'm a NOOB!)
I was messing around with my shocks and i heard a slosh sound...it appears that their is liquid in my shocks...i saw the term "oil dampening" in relation to the dart 2 model...is that what that sound is? Oil? or did the seller send me water logged shocks? |
yes. oil. hopefully.

Unscrew the top caps and take a look inside with a pen light. Clearish/oily liquid goooood. Milky/frothy liquid baaaaad.

It's most likely just the oil. You didn't dunk it in the Okefenokee Swamp right?

well since its new it should be clear right??? i guess ill have my LBS guys look at it when they install it |
I'd be more worried if you didn't hear a sloshing sound. It's the oil and it's normal. I mean, there *could* be water in it, but unlikely. The liquid(oil) is supposed to be there.

well its brand new so if its supposed to shlosh then good

Oh, the liquid is most likely molten lava. |
Oil is put inside for damping and lubrication.

How do these shocks perform? I'm considering picking up a Giant Yukon FX which comes with one and I'm just curious.

like any other entry level fork, you get what you pay for.

For the money, is it worth it? Or is there a fork out there that is well worth the extra hypothetical $50-100?
