Suggest quiet screw-on Cassette/Freewheel

Hi, Does anyone knows any screw-on cassettes/freewheel without ratchet or just quiet?

Please advice! Thanks...

Why quiet? You do know that a cassette and a freewheel are two different things, right?

The cassette are just the gears. They make no noise. The freehub body has the pawls that make the ratcheting sound. Shimano made a 'silent clutch' long ago but it takes special cogs and wasn't that reliable. I think you'd have a hard time finding one now. You could always inject the freehub body with grease...that quiets them some.

Or wear ear plugs!

Or learn show tunes

i have a cheap shimano freewheel that is fairly quiet i don't remember it's model, perhaps HB-570?. you can still hear it, but instead of "TTTTTTT!!!" when coasting, it's more like "ttttttt...." if that makes sense. Sometimes I can't hear it at all. I think loud ratcheting sounds are good for letting people know where you are.

pro's of loud freewheel: families on baby stroller trails can get out of the way or at least be aware of you. , other cyclists can hear you without the use of a bell or anything, can help you judge your speed if you don't have/want a speedometer

cons of loud freewheel: mountain lions can hear you better too...

maybe to quiet it down you can pack it with thicker grease?

Take out the pawls and spray 'em with Teflon coating?

I'm partial to "Oklahoma!" Or "Why Can't the Cowboy and the Farmer be Friends". Or something from The King and I.

Or you could do something from Cabaret but people would think you are disturbed...especially if you dressed and acted like Joel Grey Or worse, Liza

I got one from nashbar a few months ago. it does take special cogs (7spd with a 9spd spacing) but a SS kit took care of it. It's my ninja bike.

That makes life even harder. You are trying to find radio crystals in a silicone world (look it up )...buggy whips for a horseless carriage...tang in the era of gatorade. Freewheels technology is just old. It's been replaced by cassettes and freehubs. About the best thing you could do is to see if you can find a grease injector and smoosh grease into the freewheel. That will make it quiet.

Otherwise, you're kinda stuck. Sorry.
