    24" wheels

I am a shorter rider (5'3") and I couldnt find any serious mtbs w/ a 24" wheel so I got a 26". I want to know if there are any problems associated with putting 24" wheels on my 26" wheel frame. I have an '06 rh comp. I'm guessing I can put on disc brakes, and does anyone know where I can get 24" wheels for a mtb? thanks.

you should be alright depending on what framesize you got. cuz im a shoter rider also i think i was about your height when i got my first mtb. (i think i bought it at the age of 15) it was a 2004 specalized hardrock ss and it feels just like my old bmx bike realy (well sort of) and i can clear the frame no problem there is space between the frame and my legs when im standing on the ground and i think with the seat at its lowest possition i can put my feet flat on the floor when i am sitting on it. but thats a hardrock ss wich is designed for dirt jumping and trail riding so its gona be a bit on the short sike like a bmx bike. but i think you will be safe if you get a small frame cuz i know there are people out there shorter than you. and i dont realy know that you can get 24" wheels for your leval of bike i think 24" wheels were invented as a sort of knock off bmx cruiser and adapted for wall mart bikes. but i think you shold be safe and if you are having fitting problems the issue is in your bike not your wheels. bu thats just my $0.02.

thanks for your concern, but its not a fitting problem b/c I could have gotten a 13" frame but it felt too small length wise, so I got a 15". I just wanted 24" wheels bc I want to be able to bunny hop etc. easier like my bmx bike. w/ 26" wheels my bike feels like a small frame w/ oversized wheels. I want smaller wheels so I can throw it around more, thats all.

you should be just fine! i have the same story as you do. i come from the same background as you do. and trust me you will be just fine! oh and one other thing your gona love about mtb. is if your lucky like me to have trails that are a bit further away than what is fun to ride on a single speed bmx bike yet not far enough to justifly a car trip. mtb with 9 speeds is great. it makes that journy so fast. and suspention makes the trails a ton smoother you more or less glide over rocks and roots rahter than be shaken to death by them! anyways enjoy your new bike! i know i did!
