Check out my BIKE!
"IT WILL BE READY NEXT FRIDAY" -- So my LBS told me with a kick to my nuts (figuratively of course)...After the time it took to wait on the parts to come in...another week will go by with no joy riding for me
Anyway...heres the parts I am having thrown together...tell me what you think:
Shifter/Brake Levers Shimano ST-EF29
Leader 516h Frame
Shimano Alivio RD-MC20 Rear Derailleur
Shimano Deore LX Front Derailleur
FSA Z3 Zero Stack Headset
Bontrager Select Grips
Bontrager Select Handlebar (Crowbar) Low Rise
Bontrager Sport Stem 110mm 10 Degree Rise
Rock Shox Dart 2
What do you think? Will my ride be pretty good?

Thanks! Any words of encouragment are welcome! I am new to mountain biking so hearing that I got a good setup is like drinking cool water after a 12 mile trek.

not too bad if that's the whole bike +100 bucks in assembly cables and other unexpected stuff ... the frame is cool, but if you had bought a pre-built bike you may have gotten a better fork.

I'll buy a bike piece by piece someday, but it will probably be comprised of rather highend components/frame.
Cool idea though. You know how to put it all together? (err.. nevermind.. just read that your LBS is doing it.)
Good luck with that. Above and beyond..
Post some pics of the finished product.

I couldn't take what you are doing .. not having a bike and watching one show up piece by piece... after 1 or 2 parts showed up I'd lose it and take out another credit card and go buy one.

Not a bad deal on the build-up, imo. That frame is probably better than most Treks in your price range, and the rest of it is pretty much stock Trek bits (why bontrager for so much, btw?), so you can't go too far wrong. If the bike ends up at $530 or so w/build-up by your LBS, you probably could have gotten a marginally better fork and equivalent or better components in a Rockhopper/4500/similar level bike, but like you said, yours is custom, so that's worth something.
The most important thing about any bike is that it has a rider that loves it and loves to ride it. The rest is secondary.

im not sure what you mean why bontrager for so much...i guess you mean the handlebar? its MSRP for 35 + shipping so i thought i got a deal...the grips for 3 bucks was a steal...and so was the stem for 11 IMO
Thanks for the words of encouragment!

its called a "lefty"
Supposed to be desired due to its half the weight of a regular suspension fork...and we all know that the fork is the heaviest part of our bike
