Trail help in So. Cal

I'm trying to find trails within a reasonable drive of Los Angeles that make sense for camping. So either the trailhead is at or near a camping spot or the trail is good for an overnight pack-in trip (as in you bike in with gear and camp along the trail).

I've been looking at socalmtb.com but it's hard to tell much about the trails besides how to get there.

Basically I'd like to go backpacking but with my mtb.

You might want to look into Sycamore Canyon just north of the LA/Ventura county line on PCH. It's part of the Point Mugu State Park, has camping/showers/beach and pretty good riding (fire road and singletrack). It's less than an hour north of Santa Monica.

In addition, consider Irvine Lake (Orange County), O'Neill Park and Caspers. All county parks that allow camping with great trails included.
