annoying clciking from bike

hi to all, i have just registered mainly to try and find out about a problem i have with my bike, of course i wish to use this forum in the future.

in the last 2 days a clicking sound when i pedal has occured, it happens on the top of a pedal rotation and the vibration can be felt under my right foot , which tells me its local to the pedal , maybe.

if i dont put any pressure on the right pedal and do the pedaling with my left foot, it doesnt sound off.

i stripped the bike today cleaned it re greased it, took off the top bracket cleaned that , and yet its still here plaguing my life .

thanks in advance. :)

I had similiar problem with that on left side where crank attaches to the bottom bracket...

Sounds like the crank arm bolt is a little loose. If tightening that doesn't help check your seat bolts and the quick release, sometimes what sounds like a pedal problem is a loose seat bolt.

Gease your BB threads and tighten everything up and you should be right. I had the same problem.

I had a similar situation. The clicking would occur at the same angle for the left crank arm. I switched to my old pedals, but it was still there. Torqued the crank arms and checked the rear-suspension bearings (that can cause it too) and all seemed OK. That left the bottom bracket axle/bearing unit. It spun like new and there was no play in it that I could feel.

I replaced it and that finally solved the problem. Probably due to be replaced after nearly 4 years and a lot of miles

thanks for all your suggestions , i removed the right pedal oiled the nut, and oiled inside the pedal by removing the pedal metal frame and greasing inside of the screw holes, replaced the pedal, and it seems to be much better.

i say much because upon starting off on the bike it clicks once or twice, but as i get faster there is nothing, no vibrations under my foot and no clicking.

done a 25 mile ride last night and it was ok.

i think its time for a set of new pedals anyway.
