6061 Aluminum
I have an Iron Horse Warrior 3.3 (hardtail) that I got for $600 CDN and the frame is made up of 6061 (non-T6) double butted aluminum. How good or how bad is this frame? I mainly do XC and really light downhill. Will this guy hold up? What are the limits? Should I expect any problems?

You'll be fine on that bike. Most frames are made out of 6061 and perform well, your's should too.

What's the difference between 6061 and 7005 (or whatever the 7000 series is)? Is one lighter, or stronger? Which one is typically on higher end bikes?

my frame is 7005 and my stem and handlebar is 6061...the 6061 has a grainier texture to it and is a tad bit heavier and extremely rigid...the 7005 is thin, light, and very strong
my opinion is the only difference is the 7005 is a bit lighter, though the 6061 might be stronger

So my friend's Cannondale Prophet is lighter than my bike, although it's full suspension and has more frame to beef it up. Besides the $1700 ish dollar price difference, could the weight savings be because he has 7005 aluminum?
