Entry Level Forks - Suntour XCT vs Rock Shox Dart 1

Does anyone have thought on the compairing of these two forks?

I know they are entry level but my girlfriend has the option of upgrading her bike from the suntour to rock shox for an extra $20, it's almost nothing but I don't see any other differences in the $20 upgrade besides the drive train, upgraded from SX4 rear & 3.0 front to Alivio 410 rear and Acera front,

Thanks
Jeff

Ok, well I don't think an SX4 RD to a Alivio RD is an upgrade (maybe even a downgrade..), but the 3.0 to the Acera definitely is. SRAM FDs are not that great.

As for the fork the Dart 1 is the very bottom of the line for Rock Shox and the XCT is around the same. Rock Shox is known to be better, but at the low end, it usually is a moot point. I would just go with the fork with lockout. It is a very good thing to have and at the lower end it will probably malfunction early, but have some lockout is better then not having any at all.

If neither has lockout then you would need to wait for another post/reply. Paint job maybe?

Good luck.

I have a rock shox dart 2...the spring is pretty stiff but its a solid built fork, my LBS mechanic told me "the beauty of the Dart is that you cant screw it up by tinkering or adjusting...its very user friendly"
