2008 Specialized FSR xc Comp – Anyone Seen One Yet?
Can’t seem to find a black 2007 Specialized FSR xc Comp in medium frame.
So after going to a few bike shops I went to my favorite one. They had the bike in a large.
They called Specialized and were told that the 2008 FSR xc Comp is available to order. My first question is why can’t I seem to find any photos of this bike if it can currently be ordered and delivered? I don’t plan on spending $1399 on a bike without taking a look at it first.
It’s as if I’m stuck in “I want to spend some serious money on a new bike purgatory”. "Sorry we don’t have the bike that fits you and we’re really not planning on ordering one unless you plan on placing a security deposit on it and buying once we get it and assemble it.".
Has anyone seen the 2008 FSR xc Comp?
I’ve heard that the color options are brown or red. I will begin to call and see if any shops have ordered any 08 FSR xc Comps for their floors. I highly doubt it.
Thanks for any help.
-Matt
P.S.
If a bike shop is asking $1399 for a new bike, is that how much I should expect to spend or is haggling part of buying a bike (like buying a car)?

Look at last year's model, they should be 95% identical in frame design and components. Then again, what do I know. I think you can save a hundred on an 06 model, no?

I'm trying to buy a 2007. Little did I know that it's the end of the year and there aren't any mediums left. So now I'm forced to buy a 2008. Which is fine, there really isn't any difference... so I'm told. The funny thing is that Specialized's website doesn't even show the 2008's yet... but they're shipping them out to dealers upon order. That's the part that I just don't understand. If I could find a new 2006 FSR xc Comp, I'd buy that one.

Wait for it to arrive, I'm sure the shop will still have them. Then take them for a spin.

I built 2 FSRxc comps today. A red one and a brown one. The red one is pretty standard looking, the brown is pretty...umm...shocking...seriously, its not so bad once the orange and brown colors burn holes in your retinas.
Anyways, they're pretty decent bikes. LX f/r dérailleurs, new rapid fire shifters, avid juicy 3 brakes, a decent if heavy rockshox tora fork, and (I think) lockout on both ends. one thing I think was funny is that the tires on them were a model called "the captain". I had to resist the urge to raise my leg. The new rapidfire shifters are kinda cool, you can use them like before, or use your thumb for shifting in both directions. The avid juicy 3s were easy to set up and adjust, but they dont seem as powerful as the other juicys.
any other questions? Thats my review from building them and doing my little 30 second test ride.

When you compare the 2007 XC Comp and the 2008 XC Comp. it's no comparison. The 2007 comes with much better components. Maybe "much better" is an exagerated phrase... but the components are better on the 2007. So much so that purchasing a 2008 XC Comp hasn't even crossed my mind. I'd rather wait or look at other models or bikes.
Thanks for the information though,

Specialized has them on their website now. the '08 FSRxc Expert looks to be about the same spec as the '07 Comp.
