XT crankset came in today

As I was examining the parts I noticed that that bottom bracket doesnt seem to use any ball bearings...of course I dont know alot about this stuff but I thought it was ball bearings in the bottom bracket that make the cranks spin so effortlessly...being that its an integrated bottom bracket...i guess that means that it doesnt need them?

Also there was alot of that lube gel on the threads, I dont remember if it was like that before or got on there after I had been playing around with them, but wouldnt that make it come loose during a ride?

Your kit should have come with cups. The bearings are inside of these.

The stock grease makes them feel a bit sticky at first.

There are ball bearings in there. And they will spin. Believe.
