Is my Trek 4300 too big for me?
I am 5'7" and have a 28-29" inseam. Short legs tall upper body. I was at a bike shop looking at new Trek 4300's and straddled the 16" frame. I was just barely touching. The salesman said I would be fine with that because I don't want too small of a bike.
That night I found a 16" 2005 model from a private seller and picked it up for $175. Seems like a good deal it was a spontaneous purchase.
Now I am worried that the frame is too big because of the standover height. It felt fine riding it, haven't ridden any bike in 5 years. I don't know if the top tube fits like people talk about haven't read enough to understand that concept.
Could I have made a mistake?

Thanks Chelboed. Just got it last night and did a quick 4 mile ride. Haven't had time to take a pic. It is the blue/silver model and it has a blue water bottle holder. Nice bonus if it wasn't standard. My helmet is blue too. Coincidence?

Bikes with high top tubes often "bump" on those of who are bigger on top then on the bottom. Very often, we have to buy a bike one size larger then normal if it has a short top tube. For example, I was riding a XXL Giant bike, but an XL Gary Fisher which has a long top tube fits me perfect.

Yeah, damn newbie's never posting pics. What's this world coming to?
FWIW- there's a difference between a cycling inseam and a pants inseam. One goes to the floor and the other doesn't. I'll let you figure out which is which and I don't know what you're quoting.
As long as you're comfortable on the bike, it is what's important. It's nice to have some stand over but most people will fit a bike based on top tube length.
