2007 Soecialized Rockhopper Comp Disc
I am probably going to be buying this bike on friday.. wanted to get you guys opinion on it..
I like the fact it has deore level components, and avid bb5 brakes..
This bike will be replacing my 1995 Trek 850 rigid, she's been a trooper but needs too many repairs to keep going.. plus i want to upgrade to front suspension and disc's..
anything you guys would change? I decided to spend a little more cash than some of my friends have because i don't want to have to change anything other than maybe comfort items such as bar ends and what not.

great bike
i've got an '07 rockhopper comp disc and i've been beating the crap out of it for 2 months now. no problems, other than the rear dr hanger that i bent about 2 weeks in. riding 3-4 times a week. its got good components for the price (don't pay the $880 retail - find it on ebay or at your lbs for less, i paid $670). Only thing i would swap are the tires, the stock specialized ones seem somewhat slippery to me (or maybe thats the 10 stitches in my arm talking)

have you had any problems with the adjustment of the disc brakes?
i have to take my front wheel off every time i transport my bike anywhere other than riding, so i am not sure whats causing it..
another thing i've noticed and will probably change, is that if you get the grips wet at all.. they are like ice! very slippery..
anyone have any suggestions for grips??

I was going to pick up the same bike last week, but I decided to order the 2008 and wait for it. The component's are pretty much the same, but the 2008 has the M4 frame which is suppose to be a pound lighter. Waiting for it to get here sucks though LOL.

my 2007 has the m4 frame, so not sure what you're talking about there.
as for the brake adjustments, i haven't touched them yet. still stopping well. however i also haven't removed the wheel at all because my rack doesn't require me to.
also i wear gloves when riding so even when wet the grips seem sticky to me.
stitches come out tomorrow

According to the Specialized website and the one I test rode in the LBS, the 2007 is suppose to be an A1 frame. If you have the M4 frame, you did good.

i swear this whole site is full of morons.
buy it from your LBS, unless you have a mechanic that will work for nothing for you. Also, look into OURY grips.
but PLEASE buy it from your LBS, if you pay an extra hundred bucks who cares, you will get the service and advice for it.

I special ordered mine from my LBS. They didnt have any of the 2008's in stock, so I will be the first to get one as soon as they start rolling in.
