Be safe about bb7s

Being such a noob at this, I was wondering if BB7s could work (well) with my current Shimano LX DCLs...

DCLs? dual control levers? If thats what it stands for, then yes. Otherwise, I cant tell you.

as long as the DCL's brake levers are designed for cable V-brakes and not Hydro Brakes

Nah, both would work well. The hydro levers with BB7's would be lighter though...no cable to actuate the caliper.
