2007 gary fisher wahoo vs 2008 gary fisher wahoo

hey everyone im picking up my first non crappy bike lol

im looking at an 07 black n silver gary fisher wahoo or a 2008 purple gary fisher wahoo i like the black color more neither of the 08 colors really pop for me... anyways

the differences in the bikes is
07 has an alivio rear deraillur the 08 has a deore rear deraillur

07 has an acera front deraillur the 08 has a sahara front deraillur

also the pedals are alloy which im going to replace pedals anyways

the 08 has slightlyyyy better rims and they changed the crank but they are both compairable...

i can get a 07 for 389.99 or a 08 for 439.99 are these upgrades worth the 50 bucks or should i grab the 07 in the better color? thanks for any help

    ONE MORE QUESTION????

do bike shops deal? should i try to get money off like on a car? thanks

Get the one that you like better. The lower end components will need replaced after a year or two anyway. I think that if you get a bike you don't like as much just for a couple components that are possibly a bit better, you will not be as happy.

I have Deore on my GF Cobia, and it's ok. I have had XTR and there is just no comparison. You don't have to think about shifting with XTR, it just does it.

OH, and bike shops might deal on the older model. I know my LBS guy and he is a super guy. He gives me special pricing on stuff all the time and throws in free stuff with bigger purchases. He also doesn't try to push me for the next better product that is $20 more but not $20 better.

2006 Lemond Buenos Aires - Steel/Carbon best of both worlds.

Yea I would go with the 07. You can probably also talk him down a little bit because it is an older model.

I got an 07' for $373.00 from my LBS about a month and a half ago. The 08 colors are real bad IMO. All of them, not just the Wahoo. But on the Wahoo you get to choose from purple (um...no thanks) or **** brown. Plus the paint design on the 07's is better than the 08's IMO.

Yes, bike shops will deal on the old models. This time last year I got a GF Marlin that was $500 retail for $375. You got to find the right sale and get lucky that they have one your size.
