Question about racing? And any races in/around Toronto?

Do you need a top-notch bike to race? I just have a 'low-entry' bike, Giant Yukon. No disc brakes, just a good 'ol Manitou shock...basic stuff...Deore derailleur.

No you don't...while a bike helps if you are a capable racer you will place well regardless of the bike.

the bike is not as important as the engine(yourself) but still, you have to have one thats reliable and sutch. having bike problems durring a race really sucks.

I usually ride that killer trail at Redway Loblaws (u know that?)
it's one of the most technical in ontario i've heard...
but i'm not good..i walk up and down some of them..so yah
i basically ride around the don trails...i have to venture out to kelso and dagmar sometime
