    hitting slick rock tomorrow AM

I'm on a crosscountry trip and stopped in Moab to ride slickrock. Never done it before, and ( as i hate to admit this) cardio is nowhere near what it was earlier this summer due to a back injury. aside from alot of water, cliff bars and first aid, any tips for this trail? they would be greatly appreciated. And oh ya, I haveno one to ride this with, so I will probably stick to the 1.5 mile loop....

...Thanks pete. This is my first time out west, so i'm a little aprehensive about my skill level. I've been riding CT trails for two years now, but they are soft single track, with no real climbs, so i'm gonna be that guy that walks up most hills, but so what, as long as i have fun I guess it's cool....

slickrock is slick! find some friendly folks in the parking lot to tag along with or hop from group to group. if you are in moab, you might as well do the whole loop. even if you have to walk some uphills, you will regret the uphills you didn't even have the chance to walk up because you skipped them. happy trails and safe travels!

Do the main loop. Just ride smartly, and you'll be fine. It's not the best ride out there (IMO) but if you've never been, it's very worth doing. It has some fabulous people watching opportunities as well.

and that's slick as in cool, not slick as in slippery. if you want to you can pretend i said slickrock is sick and the same mesage will be conveyed.

thanks guys, like I said, i only know what I read on the internet, and what i read was that it is very challenging and you can get lost very easily. Are the trails well marked? does anyone want to meet up for a ride tomorrow around 6:30 I figure that atleast i'll see some great stuff and get some great pics

thanks for clarifying that to other forum members Pete. I understand the trail can get slick when wet, but given the forecast of 86 and sunny i figured that it would be unnecessary to mention. I guess my clarifications just went a little overboard. as Pete said, just follow the dots! at the very worst, you will find yourself off trail by a half mile and at a scenic lookout.

p.s. Terrapin Ben, the Slick Rock Trail can actually be very slick after it rains dues to all of the embedded rubber on the main line.
I've ridden it nearly every trip out there. I still get enjoyment out of it, new lines, people watching, sitting and drinking a beer out at Shrimp Rock. That particular day was the most crowded I've seen.

Saw lots of folks without helmets, no water, dazed expressions, etc.
