Motolite II build started....

I was finally able to get started building up the Titus this evening. I had planned to do the complete build all except cutting the steerer. Everything was going pretty smooth until I realized that the fork has post mount brake mounts, my maguras are IS mount. Looks like I will be ordering an adaptor tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be doing my weekend mountain bike on my cyclocross bike again.

No problem, they do look nice with the carpet though. I hadn't really noticed before.

I just found out (thanks mr. smashy) that I can get the adaptor from Magura for $25. Only problem is that I will have to go to a 180 mm rotor. That wouldn't be that big of a deal but I would have to get four of them so I would have them on all of my wheelsets. It's starting to look like it may be easier to get a new set of brakes.

I definitely got my money's worth out of the Magura's though. They have served me well for the past four years.

Just broke down and ordered some 2008 Juicy 7's. That should take care of the problem I'm having.

If you ever saw how slow I ride technical you would have no doubts that those wheels are more than strong enough.

I couldn't justify the ultimates, after all, this is just a budget beater bike.

You could make that sound better, " My riding style is smooth, those rims are more than tough enough!"

I think I am going to go ahead and order a Shimano XT M770 crankset as well. As much as I have enjoyed my FSA crank I think I am going to get away from ISIS on this one. I'm definitely not a big Shimano fan, but for the money I don't think the XT crankset can be beat, especially since I'm not overly concerned about the weight on this bike.

I find it humorous what you call a "budget beater".

Juicy 7's, XT crankset, new Fox Float, not to mention the frame itself is very nice.

I'd hate to see what something on the "edge" of your budget would look like. I guess we did see that last yr, eh?

Here ya go, I don't consider this build to be "budget".

In Fox's testing process, they found out that they could save weight and have caliper mount that is stronger.

Lowcel, I can't understand all that Campy crap...it's all Greek. Is it like the Roadie X.0?

Lighter by what, like 10 grams? Me personally, I would much rather sacrifice that small weight penalty to have the IS mount.

What improvement is the IS mount over the 74mm? I've always wondered this.

Compatibility with somebody's brake system is all I could come up with.

Yeah, pretty much. Just a little bit more expensive. For example, the record shifters / brake levers cost about $375. The record rear derailleur costs $265, the chorus crankset cost $559. Heck, even the cassettes cost $225 each, that adds up when you buy three of them. The zero gravity brakes cost about $430 or so.

Oh by the way, the bottle cages on that bike cost about $140.
